How to use it
- Add your file. Trimming, invisible characters and empty rows are fixed straight away.
- Use Find and Replace for things like “N/A” to blank, or “ St.” to “ Street”. Leave “Replace with” empty to delete the text.
- In the column list, uncheck columns to drop them, rename them, set UPPER, lower or Title Case, and move them with the arrows.
- The note above the preview counts every change. Download when it looks right.
Questions
What are invisible characters?
Non-breaking spaces, zero-width spaces and control characters that come along when data is copied from web pages, PDFs or other systems. They make two values that look identical fail to match.
Is the find and replace case-sensitive?
Yes. “n/a” and “N/A” are different. Run it twice if you need both.
Will my original file change?
No. FileMixer works on a copy in the browser and downloads a new file. The file on your computer is never touched.
What about Excel files with several sheets?
When a workbook has more than one sheet, a menu appears next to the file so you can pick the sheet to use.
